Biography

Trevor Mires- C.V.

Musician and educator Trevor began playing the trombone at the age of 8.
At the age of 12, Trevor began studying classically, playing in orchestras such as the London Schools Symphony Orchestra, and local amateur orchestras, getting the opportunity to play alongside conductors such as Sir Colin Davis, and Pianist Dudley Moore.
He gained an Honours Degree at the Royal College of Music, and then a Postgraduate in Jazz studies at Trinity College of Music. Trevor also gained a full scholarship to study at the Berklee College of Music in Jazz.

Trevor began his teaching experience upon graduation, teaching primary school-age children the Trombone, Trumpet, French Horn, Tuba and Euphonium at local London primary schools. He has also taught children as part of the ‘wider-ops’ program.

Since then, Trevor has built up an international reputation as a Jazz/Classical/Commercial Trombonist.
He has taken masterclasses and clinics all over the world, including:

Trevor’s previous education work has included the position of Jazz Trombone Tutor at the Purcell School for Music.

Trevor regularly teaches privately, to people of all abilities, from absolute beginner, right up to working professional musicians.

Trevor has built up an international reputation as a Jazz/Classical/Commercial Trombonist.

“His performing credits are wide ranging. He has performed with, among others, George Benson, recorded and toured with multi-instrumentalist James Morrison, toured with Sam Rivers Big Band , Michel Le Grand, and recorded with Pat Metheny, Toots Theilmans and David Sanborn.
Trevor was a member of jazzfunk band Jamiroquai, and Incognito, recording and touring with both for a number of years. Maintaining a healthy balance between commercial and more creative projects, recording in studios for TV and film, Trevor is currently Trombonist/arranger for Sir Tom Jones, and recently toured with Randy Brecker's European Big Band, as well as recording with Radiohead, and performing with the likes of Alicia Keys, Beyonce, and recording and performing with Mark Ronson.
Recent work has included playing lead trombone with the Buddy Rich Big Band featuring Dave Weckel, recording for Kasabian, James, Elvis Presley and Roy Orbison
