My studio is in the Creative Quarter in Folkestone.

My teaching style is very friendly and personable, but also heavily focussed on technique - as should always be the case. I handle each client on a case by case basis and I use the best classical and contemporary techniques and exercises that work to produce the most beautiful and comfortable voice possible. My aim is always to "find" the singer's own voice and build it into a robust and healthy instrument which is free from tension and a joy for the singer to use.

Genres:
Jazz
If you have a love of Jazz or are already a Jazz singer or musician then this is the opportunity to really hone your skills. As well as learning standard singing practice working on range, registers and technique, you will also study speciality Jazz techniques exploring timbre, vocal effects, improvisation and scat singing. You will get to know the complexities of Jazz music and develop confidence and fluency in using a range of vocal 'tools' to become a creative and expressive vocalist.

Blues/Soul/Folk/Pop/Rock/Country
These genres should celebrate your natural tone as a vocalist. Many people who have been singing in any one of these styles for a while have difficulty with straining the voice because they haven't learned to sing with complete freedom of voice, or are trying to do something they need help with and are frustrated. It is surprising how going back to basics and learning how to breathe and warm up properly can immediately improve the voice, as well as homing in on specific problems and tackling them as needed. Singing high notes, connecting registers, control, breathing, power and resonance are some of the concerns brought to the table by singers of these genres (and others) and whether you are a complete beginner or a professional, you will receive lots of personal coaching and training on technique, as well as performance and general musicianship.

Musical Theatre
Classical techniques are employed as well as extensive use of the 'mixed' register to bring out that authentic West End/Broadway sound. Performance, drama and lyrical singing are also heavily focussed on to improve not only the voice but the expressive skills of the singer resulting in convincing performances in different characters.
