I have been teaching guitar to children, teenagers and adults for some 15 years, teaching both privately and at several primary and secondary schools and music services. I am also Composer in Residence for ARK schools and run several guitar ensembles for players of various abilities.

All of my lessons are tailored to the needs of each individual student, always emphasising the joy of music making, providing a strong instrumental technique and developing general musicianship skills.

I regularly enter pupils for ABRSM and Trinity /
Guildhall graded exams (Grades 1-8), preparing pupils for all elements of the exams (performance, aural test, sight reading, scales etc).

Over the years I have accumulated a large repertoire of pieces and teaching resources, in a wide variety of styles and at all levels and I regularly compose tailor-made pieces for students and groups of students.

As part of the lessons, I like to weave in some music theory. It is fascinating, at any level, to consider who a piece of music is constructed, and being aware of some of the 'nuts and bolts' can provide invaluable pointers for performance and interpretation.

I teach from my home in the Queen's Park area and I am fully DBC enhanced / CRB checked.

Please take a moment to read some of my pupils' testimonials (tab near the top of the page) and get in touch with any questions you might have about the lessons.

Best wishes, Bernd
