Notes:
I am training to be a classical pianist at the Royal Northern College of Music. Prior to attending the RNCM I studied at one of the UK's leading music schools, St Mary's Music School, where I studied Classical piano, violin and music as an academic subject.
I have worked as a private piano and music theory teacher for four years and have also worked as a group violin tutor for Tees Valley Music Service.
Whilst studying at St Mary's, I worked with the Sage, Gateshead and their outreach projects teaching children in both the Newcastle area and Singapore about orchestras and the violin. I also performed as part of a trio for the scheme Live Music Now.
I have worked with Sistema Scotland and El Sistema who aim to optimise young children's opportunities and aspirations through music. The charities help children who might otherwise never have the opportunity to learn an instrument.
More recently I have been working with a charity called Music Action International and one of their groups Stone Flowers. The group uses music as a medium to help refugees who have been affected by trauma.
As a soloist, chamber musician and orchestral player I have performed throughout the UK, Europe and Singapore. Most notably in the UK at the Royal Albert Hall, The Queen Mary's Hall, The Sage, Gateshead and the Royal Northern College of Music.
As a folk fiddle player I have been a member of bands such as Cattle and Cane and James Auger and the Natives. With these bands I have played at T in the Park, Evolution Festival, King Tut's - Glasgow, Stockton International Riverside Festival and many more. My playing has been aired on BBC Radio Tees, BBC Radio 2 and Channel 4.
I am very passionate that budding musicians learn the theory of music. I am happy to work on a 1-1 to basis or in small groups teaching music theory as a supplement to practical lessons.
