"It's a pleasure to learn from Simon. His knowledge on the history of the instrument as well as the origins of the tunes is compelling and his skill at playing is inspiring. The lessons are very relaxed and he has huge patience for the beginner player as they learn basic technique as well as great advice for the more advanced player looking to improve the quality of their playing and build complexity into their renditions. I would recommend Simon to anyone interested in learning the banjo."

Its clear from the get go that Simon has a wealth of knowledge and experience on the Banjo that only comes from years of playing. Lessons are very relaxed and Simon has a knack for quickly getting even the most inexperienced player up to speed and producing great sounding results. Simon is a great teacher for any level of student, if you want to build a solid foundation of good technique and develop your own style of Clawhammer Banjo, then I can't recommend him enough.

Simon isnít just a great teacher, he is one who truly carers about pupils and wants them to learn. I have had many teachers growing up and Simon is definitely one of the best. He is not a time watcher and always makes sure I go home with something to practise and that I have a lesson well learned. He spices things up by accompanying on the violin and making you feel you can play in a group environment, which is always more fun than playing alone. I would recommend him to anyone that would like to learn to play claw hammer banjo.

I have been learning the banjo with Simon for the past six months, and it's been a wonderful experience. He is an excellent and encouraging teacher, and I feel like I've made more progress than I ever would have expected. He has a very holistic teaching style, and we learn every song from a variety of different angles; it's much more interesting than just following the tab. He's also very knowledgeable about the history of the instrument and the culture of old time, and this adds a great deal of depth to our lessons. I would highly recommend Simon to anybody keen on taking up the banjo.

Simon has been teaching me the claw-hammer banjo for the past year. I came with no musical skills or banjo experience. Through his patient and gentle teaching I have become more confident with the instrument. Simon is a great teacher and installs confidence and also makes good coffee. I enjoy my sessions on many levels.

Simon is a great teacher, patient but firm. His evident enthusiasm for the instrument and the music is infectious and inspiring. As a complete beginner I have found my lessons with him to be very useful and extremely enjoyable.
