Biography

Liliana Luongo is a freelance clarinettist based in London. She enjoys a diverse portfolio career as a teacher, solo and chamber musician as well as playing with orchestras including the New Sussex Opera, Goodensemble and London City Philharmonic Orchestra. She recently performed Weber’s 2nd Clarinet concerto with the Bury Friendly Orchestra. She won the 2017 Wilfred Hambleton clarinet competition and was a finalist in the 2016 Harolde Clarke woodwind competition

She completed her undergraduate study at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance where she studied with Michael Whight (RPO) and Anthony Pike (ECO) having previously studied with Joy Farrall (Britten Sinfonia). She also studied Eb and Bass clarinet with, Paolo de Gaspari and Hale Hambleton (ENO, LSO).

At Trinity Laban Conservatoire she has played principal clarinet in many orchestras and wind ensembles. With Trinity Laban Symphony Orchestra she played Stravinsky's Firebird and other works by up and coming young composers including Shiva Feshareki the Spitalfields Music Festival 2018. She has played in venues such as the Royal Albert Hall, St James Piccadilly, York Hall, Snape Maltings and the Chelmsford festival to name a few.

Liliana is a passionate teacher and currently teaches clarinet and saxophone with the Camden Music Service and tutors their Junior Orchestra. She has completed the Trinity Laban Teaching and Learning course and has been involved in schools and community programmes with the Suffolk County Music Service and in London where she has assisted with the Animate Orchestra Schools and Community programme and many school workshops. She is also a founding member of the Cinematic Syncopations Orchestra, managing marketing for family concerts, workshops, and schools side by side projects in South East London.
