Biography

An upper strings teacher at St Margaret's School for Girls and Aberdeenshire Council, I am a highly experienced instructor with pupils ranging from complete beginner to ABRSM Diploma level on both violin and viola.

Also an accomplished pianist, my pupils greatly benefit from regularly working with the accompaniments of their pieces as they learn them. I like to take this opportunity to delve into the theory and history behind each piece, encouraging my pupils to scratch below the surface and develop a stronger understanding.

I regularly play piano for exams, recitals, festivals and lessons at all levels, and I am often called on as repetiteur for local groups including the Gilbert and Sullivan Society. I have been teaching piano for 7 years now and have a wonderful Welmar baby grand piano for me, and my pupils, so work on.

Outside of teaching, I am the chair of the Aberdeen Chamber Orchestra, co-founder and 1st Violin of the Aurora Quartet, leader of the Inverurie Orchestra as well as a regular performer with many other groups and shows. In the past, I have been musical director for the Art Centre's panto, Sound Festival productions and musical theatre company ACTC where I MD'd the Scottish Premiere of 'Side Show'.

I am happy to take on pupils during these challenging times and am lucky to have a terrific internet connection allowing for seamless online lessons.

Currently I have a slot on Thursday evening, and Saturday between 11am-3pm.

I'm looking forward to hearing from you!
