Notes:
Hello, I'm Jaff. I am a flute teacher based in Birmingham city centre. I am currently an Undergraduate student at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire.
My main focus is to provide a high standard of teaching, while keeping it fun and encouraging. I believe musicality and technique goes hand-in-hand, so I often approach technical issues with musical solutions, and vice versa.
As I have some experience in Alexander Technique, I focus a lot on posture and movement when playing, in order to prevent disastrous long-term problems, such as tendonitis, which is often discovered too late in a musician's life!
I have experience teaching children and teenagers by giving one-on-one lessons privately, group lessons, as well as coach sectionals in high school orchestras and bands. I have also taught adults who enjoy playing music as a leisure hobby, focusing on fun pieces without worrying about sitting for graded exams.
