Miss Kirsty Ligertwood

After winning the Liverpool Festival Piano Student of the Year Competition at the age of 17, Kirsty decided a career in music was for her and she graduated with a BMus (hons) from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in 2007. Here she studied under Fali Pavri, John Thwaites and Marina Nadiradze. She also received coaching from Judith Howarth, Adrian Chandler and Alexander Baillie. More recently she has taken part in masterclasses with Pascal Nemirovski, Paul Roberts, Tim Carey and Robert Durso, and is currently a student of John Gough.
As a soloist Kirsty has performed numerous recitals in the North West, and will be performing Mozart Concert K467 at the Metropolitan Cathedral in October 2013.
As accompanist Kirsty has worked with many talented artists, including opera singers Lisa Cassidy, Barbara Ruzsics and Claire Eadington and flautists Kia Bennett and Carla Sousa. These included performances for the Frodsham Music and Arts Club, Walton Hall, Trinity Arts Festival, St Martin Ludgate, Peterborough Cathedral and the Metropolitan Cathedral.
Since completing her undergraduate degree, Kirsty has successfully passed her PGCE and is currently working as a tutor in Crosby. She was awarded the Hudson Challenge Trophy for music teaching by the Crosby Festival of Music, Speech and Dance in 2010 and was recently appointed tutor at St Hilda’s CE High School.
