Private Individual Lessons 1992-1994 Rhythmic and melodic Guitar, Jazz harmony with Ivo Meletti, a well-known guitarist/composer.
-2 Year Diploma in Modern Vocals/Voice Work 1993-1995 I studied at The Academy of Music in Milan under the leadership of Anna Backja. This diploma gave me performance skills and teaching methodology in Jazz, Pop, Rock and Folk Music.
-Participation in Seminars 1994 Led by Jay Clayton (American Jazz Singer) and Bob Stoloff (vacal improvisation) on vocal technique.
-Examination in the theory of music and note-reading. (This is the national qualification from the Conservatory of Alessandria, Italy). 1996 This is part of an ongoing deeper knowledge of theory, which is an aspect of music that has provided me with part time work in the past. Even now I am working in conjunction with a small business called
where they have written songs without knowing any musical theory. It is my job to unpick which key the singer has chosen to sing in so that DJ's can use the vocal samples in their work.
-Certificate in Primary School Music Education and Music Therapy 1997-1999 I studied at the CEMB (Centro di Educazione Musicale di Base) The Centre for Basic Music Education. This course included techniques and methodology for group learning, with particular focus on rhythm for young learners. The Music Therapy component of the course involved a study of the principles of human psychology, types of abnormal psychology and types of physical and mental disability in children and adults. Music was used as an art form in the treatment of a variety of medical conditions and disabilities. The course had a strong practical element consisting of a weekly placement at a state primary school and a special needs school (The Socio-Educational Centre in Limbiate, Italy).
-Certificate in Aural Music Training 2000-2001 I studied at the Helvetic Music Institute (Member of the Pedagogical Swiss Society) led by Paul Cattaneo, course tutor. Through a contemporary method, I learnt how to teach music purely through aural training for all types of instrument (so that even people who do not read music can still play).
-Music Workshop 2002 “Song as a therapeutic art form in the context of Psycho-Educational and Social Health” at the University of Lugano, Switzerland.
-Private Study with Luciano Zadro 2004 - 2006 Luciano Zadro is a Jazz and classical guitarist with whom I studied Harmony, rhythm, melody and improvisation. As a tutor, Luciano Zadro gives musical training in Italy and abroad.
