After completed her master degree from Birmingham Conservatoire with scholarship, kiki chen was accepted by city of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra in the first violin section as a trainee.

While studied at the conservatoire, she was pupil of Laurence Jackson, former leader of the Maggini Quartet, current leader of the CBSO, who was pupil of famous violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter. Unlike most of the teachers only concentrate on teaching, Kiki is leader of the renowned Birmingham String Quartet and has busy performance schedule to keep her playing at the sharp shape.
