Mr Ian Brown

BMus (Hons)
Instruments: Piano
Music Theory
Genre/Style(s): Classical, Contemporary.
Ability Levels: Beginners to Advanced

I have been teaching the piano privately and in the community since I was a young teenager. I continue to teach privately in Yorkshire and the North-West, maintaining a 100% success rate in ABRSM and other examinations. So far, all of my students have achieved distinctions or equivalent in their examinations. I encourage students to embark on a voyage of discovery, both about themselves, their musical abilities and about their instrument, explaining at all levels the mechanics of the piano and its acoustic qualities.
As an accompanist I have had much experience playing in examinations, masterclasses, competitions, performances and music courses, alongside working as a private accompanist in music lessons. My debut was at St. Martin in the Fields, London in 2004 at age 17. Whilst studying at Trinity College of Music, I was invited to work with woodwind students at Goldsmiths College, University of London, both in private lessons, examinations, performances and masterclasses. I have accompanied numerous students in examinations and performances at Royal College of Music, Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Trinity College of Music, RNCM, and Manchester University.
