Notes:
I am a highly qualified teacher with 30 years teaching experience and have a current DBS certificate. I teach beginners up to grade 8 and also theory up to grade 5. Some former pupils have gone on to study music at music college and university and have made music their career. I also prepare students for audition entry to specialist music schools.
Everyone has a different reason for learning to play the piano. Some want to play for their own pleasure while others want to work towards ABRSM grade exams, including grade 5 Theory - the passport to the higher grades. Others may want to study the piano as their "skill" for the Duke of Edinburgh award scheme or as the performing element of their GCSE or A Level music. I also enter students into the Torbay Music Festival where this year's competitors enjoyed enormous success.
I tailor every lesson to suit the student's individual requirements and aim to bring out the best in each student. I teach a variety of styles including classical, Jazz, Rock, Pop and Film music. I also have experience of working with children with special educational needs.
My particular interest lies in the teaching of sight-reading and building confidence in performance whilst always having a great, fun learning experience.
Owing to Covid 19 I am now offering remote lessons.
