Notes:

Sam is a keen educator, and is in his eighth academic year as a peripatetic music teacher.

During this time he has taught at a number of schools and music education centres, including South Dartmoor Community College, SaMMS Saturday Morning Music in Totnes, Newton Abbot College, Bovey Tracey Primary School and Dartington Primary School, as well as private teaching around the local area.

He believes in teaching in a fun and encouraging environment whilst still maintaining a structured approach.

He is experienced in preparing students for ABRSM, Trinity College/Trinity Guildhall Graded examinations and in individual GCSE and A-Level music tuition, as well as auditions for further musical study.

He offers individual tuition in the following instruments and topics:
* Trumpet
* Cornet
* Flugelhorn
* All lower brass valved instruments (e.g. Tenor Horn, Euphonium)
* Trombone
* Music Theory/Aural
* GCSE and A-Level Music Tutoring

Samís private teaching rates are in line with the SaMMS tuition rates and are available on request Ė please contact Sam for more information.

Sam will travel to the studentís house to give lessons, or give lessons at SaMMS Saturday Morning Music in Totnes during term time. He is enhanced DBS-checked and has full Public Liability Insurance through the Musicians Union.

He currently has teaching spaces, both at SaMMS and privately, so please contact Sam for more information or to obtain references.

Ensemble Direction

Sam has been directing Brass and Wind ensembles at SaMMS Saturday Music School for the past eight years and also directs the South Dartmoor Community College Brass Ensemble.

He has now built the groups up to a high standard of performance, examples of which can be heard on Samís website, www.sammasseymusic.com.

Sam is always keen to get the best out of the group, and will help the less experienced students by tailoring the ensemble parts to suit their abilities and composing and arranging pieces especially for the band.
