Biography

Thomas Gibbs was born in 1995. He has studied at Chetham’s School of Music, Manchester, at the Royal Academy of Music, London, and privately with Julian Anderson.

Works include: ‘Verwandlung’, commissioned by the BBC for members of the BBC Symphony Orchestra; a sonata for solo horn; a short piece for large ensemble in four groups, ‘Wantageische Fanfaren’; and a set of ‘Études-Tableaux’ for trombone and piano, commissioned by and written for Peter Moore.

‘Verwandlung’ was broadcast on BBC Radio 3, during a programme of works by Hans Abrahamsen.

Thomas has studied trombone with, among others, Katy Jones, Ian Bousfield, and Jörgen van Rijen.
