Just wanted to say thank you for getting our wider opps project off to such a great start! Your lesson was excellent - well paced and with great techniques to get maximum engagement with kids. it is not easy working with such large classes and with such a wide range of abilities but you pitched it really well. I had lots of positive feedback from the kids. Looking forward to week 2!

Marc has given me a brilliant induction into learning to play the viola, his lessons have been insightful, constructive and most importantly fun. Marc is not only a very talented musician, but a talented teacher who is always looking to suit his lessons to you and share in his passion for the instrument. The lessons have gone far beyond my expectations, even though I did not initially consider myself a natural musician, from the first lesson Marc has made me feel involved not only with music itself but also the community within Reading, having attended gigs, and showcases - which I hopefully intend to perform at myself. I would definitely recommend Marc as a teacher to anyone.

Hi Marc, I hope you had a lovely break. Am really sorry to inform you that Jordan will not be having anymore violin lessons as he will be doing it in his school as from next week as it's part of their curriculum ... I think in a year or so I will re enroll him again for external music exams. It was a pleasure working with you and Jordan is sad that it's all come to an end. I have a parent who wants their child to learn playing the violin. He is slightly older than Jordan, shall I give them your email address to get in touch? Kindly let me know. Thanks for the good work you did with Jordan and all the best.

Our previous violin teacher was very rigid so I was over the moon to find the lovely Marc for Riley. He is a very inspirational and talented musician and a truly lovely guy. Riley immediately warmed to Marc and his teaching style which has reminded us that learning music should be fun. He is a breath of fresh air!! His vast experience of teaching children is very evident. 8 year old boys are probably not always the easiest pupils however Riley has improved immensely and always really loved his lessons. Marc has also really tackled Riley’s rhythm (or lack of it) which was always an issue, explaining it in really simple terms so that Riley now gets it. We have loved listening to the lessons taking place in our living room and always found him a fantastic teacher to work with as a parent, very flexible and always stays in touch. In fact I want to keep him!!!!

We've been very pleased to see Marc's approach win William over as he seems quite motivated to practise at home. We'd like to continue solo classes next term, with a view to a duo class in summer. ... Thank you for your help and for the great teaching Marc.

Thanks Marc for a very entertaining show this morning. Also, just to say how much Nathan's dad and I appreciate the enthusiasm and development we see in Nathan.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Marc as a teacher. Being over 50 and never having picked up a violin in my life I was quite nervous about starting to play and what reaction I might get. However, Marc put me completely at ease and took great pains to understand what I wanted to achieve; not forcing me down a specific route. Lessons are enjoyable, relaxed and very effective - Marc is possibly one of the most patient people I have ever had the good fortune to meet and never short of a word of encouragement.

We all congratulate Iona on her hard work, but hats off also to you, Marc. She has made incredible progress since you took her on as a pupil. Credit where credit is due... [Iona passed her ABRSM grade 5 violin exam with merit on 8 March 2014 and grade 6 - also with merit - on 23 June 2015.]

Russell is so loving practicing his violin. It's lovely to see. Thanks for your inspiring and positive way of teaching him.

I've enjoyed [my violin lessons] very much and found your tuition to be excellent. … I hope that in future I'll be able to resume them and you would of course be the first person I would contact for lessons!

Alice enjoys her violin lessons with Exland Music. Her teacher Marc is patient, friendly and brings out the best in her. Alice can be distracted quite easily. Marc makes the lesson interesting with a bit of humour and fun with the violin, which captures Alice's attention and motivates her in wanting to play the violin. [Alice passed her ABRSM grade 1 violin exam - aged 7 - on 9 July 2013.]

Just to let you know that Sam's exam went really well... He played all his pieces really well - no major slips and lots of dynamics! He said his scales were good and that he thought he'd done the sight-reading before!! Aural isn't a problem so I think he'll have done well! You've done a great job - well done! [Sam passed his ABRSM grade 1 violin exam with distinction on 15 June 2012.]

With no previous musical background, I started violin lessons with Marc after being gifted a violin as an adult. Marc is an excellent teacher, and the one thing that struck me the most was his ability to quickly identify a teaching/learning style that would work for me and use this in our lessons. The lessons had great continuity, with each lesson building on what was covered in the last. As a result, you can make fast progress with Marc, but – that said – he also definitely takes the time to make sure you have the fundamentals correct right from the outset. I would definitely recommend Marc for anyone considering lessons, and I would be continuing with him if I had not relocated.

I have to tell you you've got her totally inspired. She's never enjoyed the violin so much or played as much as since she started her lessons with you. For the first time she's beginning to get real pleasure from it, it's like she's turned a page. So thank-you for your excellent teaching! [Iona passed her ABRSM grade 1 violin exam with merit on 30 June 2012 and passed her ABRSM grade 3 violin exam on 27 June 2013.]
