Ms Elspeth Wilkes

My name is Elspeth Wilkes.
I have been working as a piano teacher both privately and in schools for 20 years. I graduated from King’s College, London with a music degree and went on to gain a Master’s degree in music from Trinity College of Music and a Postgraduate Diploma from the Royal Academy of Music.
I am lucky enough to teach pupils of a wide variety of ages from 5 – 18. This involves preparing them for Associated Board Graded Exams, G.C.S.E. performance exams, school concerts and performances.I also endeavour to teach my pupils to read music to a high standard which is important for their overall musicality and even helps with other disciplines that they encounter in school such as literacy and numeracy.

As a pianist and accompanist, I have performed at many venues including St John’s Smith Square, the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, St James’, Piccadilly, Southwark Cathedral and St Giles’ Cathedral, Edinburgh. I have also worked with The Royal Ballet, BBC Wales and Southbank Sinfonia and been an official accompanist at festivals in Oxford, Bath, Lincolnshire and Essex. As a repetiteur and vocal coach, I have worked with many companies including Opera de Bauge, English Touring Opera, Opera Up Close, Garden Opera, Second Movement Opera and Royal Academy Opera. I also work as an accompanist with London Oriana Choir, Barnes Choir, The Cannons Scholars and Thurrock Choral Society. In 2009, I founded the ‘St Georges Concert Series’ in London for whom I regularly perform.
